Interview with Sarah Lüder

May 5th, 2010

Talking with the young woman from the Ruhr region, who is passionately devoted to ”photo art”

“Having a sunny heart and wearing my heart on my sleeve.” With this philosophy the freelance media and print designer Sarah Lüder (24) has been working in her great passion for six years: photo art! We spoke to the exceptional artist, whose work is tremendously versatile.

Copy right: Sarah Lüder

What are your criteria for choosing the models?
I think I don’t use the word “choosing” for it. I see! And what I see in people are the special things: inner beauty, charisma, a natural and fascinating personality. Those people who are comfortable and full of zest for life are fascinating to me and they also inspire me.

What are you doing to get „the best“, “that certain something” out of your model, which most people see only at a second sight?
It’s hard for me to find words for that. Seeing and feeling! Opening up yourself as well as the person and creating a feeling for the beauty of this world. Snap-shots. In tune with body and soul, the charisma will fit the moment.

Interview with Lukas Bischoff

April 22nd, 2010

Another newcomer in the design sector

Lukas Bischoff studies communications design in Trier and he’s especially interested in typography and font design. Additionally he’s also open for illustrations and experiments with new media. We introduce the 24-year-old upcoming artist in an interview.

You’re dealing with the latest media. Which of the techniques and programs seem to be the best for you?
I think that digital techniques, programs and media still depend on the creative basis. For me, this goes together with a strong connection to analogue techniques. A pencil drawing, an ink drawing or a good water colour are often my basic material and my model for the following digital process.

What are you planning to specialise in?
As a student, the main focus is clearly on the best possible development of my skills. Up to my graduation I’m planning to create a broad basis for my future work by looking in as many directions as possible. One of my long-term goals is to bring across knowledge as a teacher.

50 high-quality textures

April 15th, 2010

Surfaces for your projects

Textures help to create surfaces with a realistic “coat”. They bring a piece of the real world into digital image editing which is often way too “clean”. You can include structured areas and convert them with different shapes. In this way you can create high-quality compositions.

In general, I would recommend to get approval from the designer when using his or her textures especially when you want to use the results of your work commercially. So you can be sure to avoid unpleasant surprises. And the designer will be delighted to know how his or her textures are used (even if the general approval is already posted online).

Interview with Meike Teichmann

April 9th, 2010

print24 introduces the young designer

The freelance illustrator Meike Teichmann creates designs for children’s and youth books, covers and a lot more. Doing this she works both digitally as well as non-digitally. We drew a few tips from the talented artist. In case you are interested, you can immerse into Teichmann’s world of fantasy on her Homepage after reading the interview. There are a lot of nice things for the visitors in the “Nimm’s mit” area.

Most of your work is characterised by a design particularly suitable for children. Why?

I think the reason for this can be found a whole way back. During my childhood I got acquainted with wonderful books! Picture books, children’s books, storybooks. I read a lot, I looked and I discovered. That’s where my inspiration may have come from, creating things for children as an adult. Standing out from the crowd is one of my aims, as well as creating a happy and positive mood, which basically makes people smile.

40 remarkable and creative portfolios

April 8th, 2010

Ideas for your projects

It is incredible how different results of designers in print, web design and other design areas are represented in the Internet. Everyone has the same goal: highlight his references at their best. You can see the creativity of these artists not only in their photos and screen shots, but also in their online galleries and portfolios.

They create an environment which by itself could already serve as a good reference, but they also display examples of their daily work, whether as a background image, as Polaroid or simple thumbnail.

Update

Sorry alltogether for the confusion! We made a mistake by taking a participant into the final list who did not keep the rules of the iPad-contest. Thank you all for pointing out the mistake!
