Transforming printing sheets into envelopes

Envelopes are made using a special envelope machine. Your motifs and text are first printed on normal printing sheets. The machine then cuts these sheets to match the end format, folds them, and glues the envelopes together. Depending on configuration, windows are added or an appropriate seal type incorporated.

Mailer or envelope?

If you have envelopes printed with us, you can choose from an envelope or mailer. The difference between these two items lies in the fact that mailers are opened on the short side, while envelopes have their opening on the long side. Both products can be printed on right to the edge, and are done so using the normal offset process. If you opt for envelopes with windows, please note that windows have rounded corners, with a radius of approx. 3 mm.

Choose from the following options for envelopes:

• 110 x 220 mm DIN long: with window on the left or without window
• 114 x 229 mm DIN C6/5: with window on the left/right or without window
• 162 x 229 mm DIN C5: with window on the left or without window

The following formats are available for mailers:

Single-sided or double-sided printing

If only the outside is printed on, there are different colour options available:

From simple to exclusive – Choosing paper for envelopes

Once you have selected a specific combination of printing inks, you can then choose from 7 different paper types for your envelopes. Depending on your selection, seal options are either zip and seal, self-adhesive or wet-adhesive.

• For zip-and-seal envelopes, the adhesive surface is covered with a strip, which is simply removed when sealing is required. These envelopes can be stored for a very long period of time.
• Self-adhesive envelopes are easy to seal by pressing the adhesive surfaces together. They are particularly light and easy to handle.
• If you choose wet-adhesive envelopes, the seal will only stick down if moistened. These envelopes are ideal for inserters.

If you want to further refine the envelopes, you can choose from four different zip-and-seal options:

• 100 gsm Premium Chamois, zip and seal
• 120 gsm Premium Ribbed, zip and seal
• 115 gsm Premium Bright White, zip and seal
• 130 gsm Premium Linen, zip and seal

These envelopes are particularly suited to wedding invitations or for sending exclusive business mail. Opting for envelopes made from 80 gsm thick recycled paper means choosing an environmentally friendly product. These envelopes are available as zip-and-seal, self-adhesive or wet-adhesive. The 90 gsm thick offset paper is the classic. Envelopes made from this paper are available in all three seal types.
