Flyer printing - Conventional formats
We print your flyers in all conventional formats. For example, small flyers in practical business-card size in DIN A7 (74 x 105 mm) format, or leaflets perfect for advertising events in DIN A6 (105 x 148 mm). But we also print your flyers in larger sizes, such as 100 x 210 mm, DL (105 x 210 mm), DIN A5 or even large DIN A4. Special formats are of course also available upon request.
Which paper do I use?
In total, print24 offers you over 20 different paper types with varying thicknesses. We achieve the best printing results with so-called coated art paper, called as such because the surface is refined with a “coating” – a bonding agent. This involves applying a specific coating colour whose main components are chalk, kaolin, casein or polymer dispersion. All papers are generally first matte after coating. To achieve a glossy effect, it then needs to be put through a calender, which smooths the paper using two high-pressure rollers. This gives the paper a very smooth, solid surface which not only feels nice, but also enables better print quality and greater detail. The colours are absorbed less, and look bold and intense.
Coated art paper, as used by us, generally has a very low volume. To attain the smooth surface, the material is compressed during production so that the volume is below 1.0. If the flyers need to be printed on thicker coated art paper, we offer premium cardboard with 350 gsm, which is only available matte. All our coated art paper is incidentally PEFC-certified. We use another type of paper for offset printing. The uncoated offset paper is characterised by its intense 164 CIE whiteness.
The Chamois paper (100gsm or 300gsm) variety uses a warm earthy colour which gives your print product a naturally classy effect in creamy white. Anyone wanting to make their flyers stand out through particular refinement can choose bright white paper (115gsm or 350gsm), which also impresses with a very smooth, velvety surface.
Our selection of premium paper is rounded off with the Linen-finish (130gsm or 350gsm) and “Ribbed” (120gsm or 350gsm) varieties. Not only will they ensure your flyers have a greater visual impact, but will also be unique to the touch with an elegant linen finish or ribbing.
Recycling paper is an environmentally friendly alternative to the aforementioned paper types. It is Blue Angel-certified and boasts excellent 133 CIE whiteness.
The printing process
The offset printing process enables larger orders to be printed at lower cost, and fonts to be printed with sharper contours. In this flat printing process, the ink is transferred from the pigmented printing plate to a rubber blanket, and then applied to the flyer. Indirect offset printing helps make your flyers more abrasion-resistant, and usually more stable and lightfast. We particularly recommend offset printing for larger orders.
Say it with colour – which colours do you want your flyers printed in?
Whether it be black and white, 4C or gold and silver, print24 offers you an extensive range of colours to print your flyers. Standard colours come in the four-colour CMYK option, while multi-colour printing using special colours is performed, among other ways, using HKS colours and their so-called HKS colour fans. These shades were named after Hostmann-Steinberg, K+E and Schmincke, who classified 88 basic colours and 3520 different spot colours. The major advantage of these colours is that they are printed from a separate cartridge and not mixed, meaning it is even possible to create hues lying outside the CMYK colour space. We only use HKS K colours on your flyers because these are suitable for all (coated) art papers.
In addition to HKS colours, we also use the Pantone Matching System (PMS) to print flyers with special colours. There are 1677 colours to choose from. The PMS colours are in turn assigned to certain paper types, such as coated paper (C), uncoated paper (U) and matte coated paper (M).
At print24, you can both combine monochrome black printing with Pantone or HKS colours, and enhance CMYK four-colour printing with Pantone or HKS colours. This also involves additional spot colours.
Topping off your flyer: refinement
At print24, we offer you six different options for refining your flyers and transforming them into unique products.
- Blind embossing: This embossing process makes your flyers three dimensional, accentuating fonts, logos or patterns. This special feature not only instantly catches the eye of your existing or potential customers, but also provides a unique tactile experience. li>Lamination: This option involves us applying a wafer-thin film to your flyer, not only enhancing its look, but also ensuring it is better protected and more robust. Special films can create additional tactile and visual effects through matting or gloss, or through velvety or linen finishes.
- Hot foil flat embossing: This refinement option adds luxurious gloss, e.g. if you select gold or silver metallic foils. During printing, the hot foil can be applied precisely to a predefined area as a transfer foil.
- Hot foil relief embossing: This is a combination of relief embossing and hot foil embossing. Your flyers become three dimensional, and the refinement enables impressive light reflections.
- Relief varnish: While blind embossing can also be felt on the back page of the flyer, the relief varnish only works on the surface. This option may be used to visually and tactilely accentuate a logo or slogan, for example.
- UV varnish: This involves applying an additional layer of varnish to significantly increase your flyer’s robustness and also create impressive visual effects. The varnish can be applied across the entire flyer, or only to selected parts as UV spot varnish.
In addition to the refinement options presented here, you can also accentuate things further with perforation and creasing.Folded leaflets allow you to choose from different foldings such as letter fold, zig zag fold or parallel fold while normal flyers are printed single-sided or double-sided.
Preview what your flyers will look like: Screenproof
We give you the option of a screenproof so you can see what your flyer will look like before it is printed. We will then create a preview of your product, and you can get an initial impression on your computer screen. We’ll send you an email as soon as your flyer’s screenproofs are ready, and you can then immediately view your product preview with a resolution of 150 dpi in your MyOrders folder in your customer account. All you need to remember is that the preview is not colour-fast, so its colours may differ from the actual finished product.
Anyone particularly wanting to see the flyer’s colouring beforehand can also request a paperproof from print24. In this case, we’ll send you a true-colour, Fogra-certified preprint of your flyer the very next working day. And to make colour-checking easier, we’ll add a green strip to the paperproofs. Paperproof costs and delivery time are displayed directly online when you make your selection. Please note that all paperproofs can only be created in A4 and A3 formats. Smaller formats are printed on A4 paper.
