[App of the Week] Wordfoto

In our business it’s not unusual to feel a certain love for design and photo apps. Today’s app combines both in a beautiful way. Even though fairly new to the App Store, it already boosts quite a number of positive reviews. Apple also featured it as iPhone App of the Week in iTunes. For us that’s reason enough to take a closer look at Wordfoto.

As many others this app manipulates images on your portable iPhone or iPod Touch or let’s you take a new one with the camera but it doesn’t work with the usual filters. It converts your photos into graphic images made from typography.

Wordfoto offers a variety of predefined phrases and words to use for the conversion. However, it’s nice enough to let you add new sets of phrases. The programm now allows you to apply one of eight different styles to turn your image into a fascinating typographic collage.

Those who overflow with creative spirit can switch to custom styles and tweak them to their liking. You can create up to eight custom styles for future use. Yet, even the preset styles can be finetuned to improve the final result.

If the picture has too much unnecessary elements you can cut it down with a rudimentary cropping tool which offers 3 different aspect ratios plus free cropping.

Wordfoto offers sharing via Facebook or Email and allows you to save your artwork to your camera roll.

The app isn’t free but if you are creative and love digital art this is definitely a worthy investment you won’t regret.
