Photoshop Express for Iphone

Two weeks ago I wrote why I think that apps will take over the (mobile) internet. To support my argument we start featuring reviews of interesting apps on our blog, taking turns with my weekly comments.

Photoshop Express for Iphone is the mobile extension of the popular desktop based image editor. The feature list of the 7MB large free app is about similar to the web version we already featured in our „special about free online image editors”

The Iphone version allows you to snap and edit pictures directly from the app interface or to edit images in your library. It offers four editing categories, which provide basic functions like rotation, cutting or flipping. To change saturation or contrast you simply swipe your finger right or left, depending on what you want to achieve. Several effects and frames can be applied to polish off your mobile piece of art. When you finished editing your picture your can save it to your Iphone or upload it to Facebook or to Twitpic for sharing on twitter. Another upload option is the free photoshop.com service where you can organize them or proceed with editing. Pictures uploaded there can also be accessed and browsed directly from the app via the “online” tab.

As universal app Photoshop Expresscan also be used on the Ipad.

The downside I experienced is that is doesn’t multitask. At least uploads aren’t cancelled but resumed when you restart the app. It also isn’t optimized for the Iphone’s retina display.

Despite the few downsides this app is a must for every decent iphone
