Everything about brochures

Brochures can be bound in four different ways. For example, you can opt for classic staple binding. However, if the paper is thicker, we recommend spiral or perfect binding. Perfect binding is especially suitable for high-quality product catalogs. If you prefer spiral binding, you can choose from high-quality metal Wire-O binding in white, black, or silver. Is your brochure 12 pages or less? We can use loop binding instead of conventional staple binding. The advantage of loop binding is that it allows your brochures to be easily filed in lever arch files or ring binders.

If you choose staple binding, we recommend adding creasing lines for paper thicknesses of 170 gsm or more. For perfect binding, creasing is automatically included. Optionally, we can add perforation lines to your brochures, which is useful if your brochure contains detachable vouchers. You can create up to four perforation lines in the configurator.

<h3>What is PUR Budget and PUR Classic?</h3>Both versions use high-quality PUR adhesive binding, which ensures greater durability and robustness. The difference lies in the printing technology: the PUR Classic brochure is produced using the traditional offset printing process for orders of 500 or more, while the PUR Budget version is created using digital inkjet printing technology. This makes PUR Budget brochures ideal for smaller, more cost-effective print runs.

Comprehensive brochures can be printed in the classic DIN formats, ranging from DIN A6 (105 x 148 millimeters) to DIN Lang (105 x 210 millimeters) and up to DIN A4 (210 x 297 millimeters). These DIN sizes are ideal if you want to file the brochures in a ring binder or insert them into presentation folders. Brochures in DIN Lang are perfectly suited for mailing advertising materials or invitations in long envelopes. In addition to these DIN sizes, we can produce your brochures in other formats as well. For instance, product catalogs in a square format of 148 x 148 millimeters can be very appealing. Smaller product brochures can be created in 120 x 120 millimeters. We also offer the "half DIN A4" size of 105 x 297 millimeters.

For more elaborate brochures, the "Art Size" format of 210 x 280 millimeters, combined with a high-quality spine-glued binding, creates an exclusive and professional look. Upon request, we can print rectangular sizes in either landscape or portrait format. Special formats are also possible and can be customized in the configurator. Please note that the format specifications always refer to the closed brochure, and be sure to include a two-millimeter bleed on the edges you want to crop. We can print brochures with over a thousand pages for you. The page number always refers to the closed, finished, or folded brochure.

The contents of your brochures are printed on coated art paper by default, which enhances the vibrancy and depth of colors. You can choose between five paper thicknesses, ranging from 90 to 250 gsm, in either gloss or matte finish. If you plan to print addresses or instructions on your brochures, offset paper is ideal. It’s available in three thicknesses: 80, 90, and 100 gsm.

Offset papers, along with the optionally available recycled paper, are bright white and suitable for use in laser or inkjet printers. If you choose to add a cover, it can be produced in various paper weights—135 gsm, 170 gsm, or 250 gsm—available in both glossy and matte finishes. Depending on your configuration, you can also select 170 gsm offset or 170 gsm recycled paper for the cover.

Depending on your choice of paper and product selection, print24.com offers various ways to enhance the surface of your brochures. For a distinctive tactile impression, blind embossing can add deep or raised embossing to the exterior of your brochures. If you want cellophane wrapping, we can laminate the exterior with glossy or matte foil, providing extra protection for your product. For an even more unique feel, you can choose soft-touch or linen texture as a variant. Your product will stand out even more if you finish the exterior with hot foil or hot foil relief embossing.

You can have individual letters, your logo, or a design embossed and covered with gold, silver, bronze, blue, copper, or red foil—a truly extraordinary effect! We can also apply UV varnish to either the entire outer surface or specific areas of your brochure. Additionally, we can combine different finishes to make your brochures even more refined and elegant. For CD booklets, DIN A5 brochures, or DIN A4 brochures with up to 12 pages, we can laminate all the pages if desired.

Protective coating

A protective varnish makes your product more resistant to wear and tear, more attractive to the touch and even more appealing to the eye. That's why a protective coating is the recommended finish for postcards, for example.

Cellophane coating

With laminating, a wafer-thin film is applied to your printed product. This gives your printed product a higher quality and at the same time makes it more robust.

Blind embossing

With blind embossing, you can highlight a motif vividly. If you choose a high embossing, your motif will be displayed in a raised position, if you choose a deep embossing, the motif will be imprinted as a dent in your printed product.

Hot foil stamping

Hot foil stamping uses pressure and heat to apply coatings from a carrier foil to your printed product. This allows you to enhance your print product with metallic effects, for example.

Hot foil relief stamping

Hot foil relief stamping is a combination of relief stamping and hot foil stamping and combines visual and tactile effects.

UV surface varnish

With UV surface varnishing, an additional layer of varnish is applied to your printed product, which gives it additional protection and makes it look even higher quality.

UV spot varnish

With UV spot varnishing, the varnish is applied only partially. This allows you to highlight certain areas of your product both visually and haptically.

If entire surfaces are to be completely coloured, you should choose Pantone. The special colours allow a very evenly application of paint without deviations. Choosing Pantone is also recommended when printing your corporate design to prevent colour diviations. Black and CMYK can be combined with Pantone, gold or silver.
